Sometimes we can make kingdoms without realizing it.
We can make our own paths alone, but ultimately they will fail. It's not up to us, but the Lord to direct our paths.
A time to get, and a time to lose; a time to keep, and a time to cast away. Ecclesiastes 3:6
I built a kingdom out of my imagination.
My own kingdom began when I talked to Someone who didn't have the same beliefs as I did. I started praying and hoping that I could change him into believing the same things I did. My dream had been a consuming fire within me. I didn't realize that I would soon find out that my so-called kingdom in mind would fall one day. Until it did.
And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free. John 8:32
I thought I could change his mind. I thought I could make Him see the Truth. I thought that by him seeing and getting to know me would make him a Christian.
I wish that I could go back into time and save myself the heartbreak and effort. Because I've come to realize it's not us who changes a person.
Only He can truly change someone from the inside out.
-with all lowliness and gentleness, with longsuffering, bearing with one another in love. Ephesians 4:2
When we choose to let God take control, He intertwines our paths with others which makes us stronger through Christ.
During my Monday Refit classes, there was a song that the leader played at the end to help us relax. One of the lyrics hit me so hard that I could barely breathe. She actually played this song multiple times, but for some reason that night it was as if I was hearing the words for the first time.
The empty places where I've worn Your name Show me the love I say I believe
Oh Help me to lay it down Oh Lord I lay it down
Oh let this be where I die My lord with thee crucified Be lifted high as my Kingdom's fall Once and for all, once and for all
During that time of trying to change this dear friend of mine, I neglected to look in the mirror. I didn't even think about my own beliefs in the process. I just wanted my friend to change because of my own selfish dreams I had made in my mind.
Once we lay down our kingdoms, our eyes will be opened to the Truths that Jesus doesn't want to share love and truth to only unbelievers, but He also wants to shape and change you and me, as well.
When we rely on our own strength and strongholds, we forget to look to the Savior.
I hope that this helps you today. You might be hearing the still small voice, even now, that you too have kingdoms in your life that may need to lay down.
I pray that this has helped you in your walk somehow someway.
Through Christ's love,
